If you own an 80/105 Series Landcruiser and are experiencing heavy steering, a leaking steering box, or even a cracked chassis, we have the ultimate solution for you. Introducing the Kinsela’s Kustoms Landcruiser to GU Patrol Steering Box Upgrade and Conversion Kit. This is the only steering upgrade you'll need for your Landcruiser, and once installed, you'll notice a significant improvement in performance.
The 80/105 Series Landcruiser is renowned for its durability, but the factory steering box is a known weak point. Common issues include leaks, difficulty maintaining light steering with larger tyres, snapping or twisting output shafts, and potential chassis cracking around the mount.
The Kinsela’s Kustoms kit provides everything you need* to adapt a genuine Nissan GU Patrol steering box into your Landcruiser. The kit includes:
- Comprehensive fitting instructions
- Inner and outer chassis fish plates (brace kit)
- Crush tubes
- Power steering fitting adapters
- Steering damper relocation bracket
- Longer bolts/hardware
- Tapered sleeve for the GU Pitman arm to retain factory 80/105 series tie rod ends
The kit is comprehensive and addresses all the issues you may have encountered with your current steering setup.
Fitting the steering damper: Depending on the brand and size of your mount, you have several options for mounting the damper. You can drill out the taper in the tie rod end and use a bolt with washers. However, some aftermarket dampers may interfere with the factory point on the drag link, now positioned below the rod. In such cases, a U-bolt clamp style is necessary. While not provided, these can be sourced from most 4WD shops. A bracket is included to offset the factory chassis mount, allowing the U-bolt clamp to be positioned away from the rod end threads.
* GU Steering box must be sourced separately.
* Some steering damper setups may interfere depending on size/brand. A U-bolt style clamp fitting your drag link may be necessary - not included.
